## Overview

If you work for yourself, as a freelancer, a remote worker or a gig worker, you can get **US dollar account details
for your work**. Clients and platforms pay you by ACH or wire, and the money reaches your Vezmo balance in dollars.

Your account details are provided by our payments partner and its partner bank. Vezmo is a financial technology
company, not a bank.

You give everything once. Your verification covers every Vezmo service, and the **Accounts** page asks only for what
a US dollar account needs on top of it.

## What you give

| What | Where you give it | What works |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Your ID | Your verification | A passport, national ID card or driving licence. We read it as you take the photo. |
| An identity check | Your verification | A short selfie video, matched against the photo on your ID. |
| Proof of your home address | Your verification | A utility or phone bill or a bank statement from the last 90 days, a rental contract, a driving licence or a government letter. A national ID card can't be used. |
| Your tax form | The Accounts page | A **Form W-8BEN**, or a **Form W-9** if you are a US person. You sign it in the dashboard; it takes about five minutes. See [Taxes and tax forms](/docs/get-paid/taxes). |
| A bank statement for the last 3 months | The Accounts page | One statement of your own account. See [Your bank statement](#your-bank-statement). |
| Two details from your ID | The Accounts page, only if your ID check didn't read them | Your sex as your ID shows it, and the date your ID was issued. If your ID doesn't show a date of issue, you say so. |

## How it works

1. **Verify yourself**
In **Verification**, add your details, your ID and its selfie check, and your proof of address. Our team reviews it.

2. **Ask for Accounts**
On the **Accounts** page, ask for Accounts. Our team decides your request with your verification.

3. **Give what's left**
Once your request is approved, the Accounts page shows what's still needed: your tax form, your bank statement and,
only if your ID check didn't read them, the two details from your ID. Your **To-do** page lists each one too. If you
verified before 5 November 2026, you also agree once to the updated consent for your ID check (see
[Who sees your documents](#who-sees-your-documents)); there's no new ID check.

4. **We send your application**
As soon as the last one is in, we send your application to our payments partner. It reviews it, and if it needs
anything more, you'll see it on your To-do page.

5. **Get your account details**
Once you are approved, ask for your US dollar account details on the Accounts page. They show as being set up until
they are ready, then you can share them with clients and platforms.

**After your account is open, too:**
Our partner reviews accounts from time to time, so it can ask for more after you are approved. You'll get an email,
and your To-do page lists each thing it asks for under Accounts. Your account stays open while you answer, and your
answers go to our partner as soon as you've given them all.

## Other currencies

Once your US dollar account details are open, you can add other currencies too, where they're offered to you. For
example, freelancers can add UAE dirham (AED) account details where they're offered, for clients in the UAE who pay by
local transfer; what arrives stays in your AED balance. See [Add a currency](/docs/get-paid/currency-accounts).

## Add your USD details to Upwork

Upwork can send your earnings to your US dollar account details by ACH, with its **Direct to U.S. Bank** withdrawal
method. Receiving ACH on Vezmo is free on every plan.

1. **Check your name**
Your US dollar account details carry your own name. Upwork asks that the name on a withdrawal account matches your
verified name on Upwork exactly, including middle names, extra family names and special characters, so use the same
name on Vezmo. If they differ, Upwork can flag the method.

2. **Copy your account details**
On the **Accounts** page, open your US dollar account details: the routing number, the account number and the account
name.

3. **Add Direct to U.S. Bank on Upwork**
In Upwork, go to **Settings › Withdrawals › Add a method** and choose **Set up** next to Direct to U.S. Bank. Enter the
routing number, the account number and the account name. Upwork's form asks for an account type: choose **Checking**.

4. **Wait three days**
Upwork activates a new withdrawal method three calendar days after you add it. Until then, use a method you already
have.

5. **Withdraw**
Withdraw from Upwork as usual. Upwork says the payment arrives by ACH in 2 to 5 business days, and it shows in your
USD balance.

**Upwork's own fee:**
Upwork charges $2.99 for each Direct to U.S. Bank withdrawal when the tax address on your Upwork profile is outside
the US, and nothing with a US tax address. That fee is Upwork's: receiving the ACH on Vezmo is free.

## Your bank statement

It must be:

- **One statement covering the last 3 months**, every page, in one file. It should end within the last 45 days.
- **Of your own account**: the name and address on it match your application.
- **Clear**: we can read the dates it covers. A PDF from your bank is best; a JPG or PNG works too, up to 10 MB.

We read the statement as you add it. If it doesn't fit, you see what to fix straight away (for example "This
statement covers 30 days"), and you can choose another file.

**It is not your proof of address:**
Your proof of address is part of your verification. The 3-month statement is asked only for a US dollar account, and
only once.

## We never ask twice

- Anything your verification already holds is never asked again.
- Your sex and your ID's date of issue are asked only when your ID check couldn't read them, for example from an ID
card without a machine-readable zone. You give each once.
- A bank statement you already gave counts while its period ended in the last 90 days.
- Your tax form counts until it expires or your details change.

## Who sees your documents

We send your details and documents to our payments partner only to open and keep your account. With them goes the
result of your ID check: the photos of your ID, one picture from your selfie video, the results of the face match,
the liveness check and the sanctions and PEP screening, and the countries you applied from (read from your IP
address). The consent you agree to before your ID check says so; the [Privacy Policy](/privacy-policy) has the details.

If you verified before 5 November 2026, you agreed to an earlier version of that consent. Before your application
goes, the Accounts page and your To-do ask you to read the updated one and agree, once. Your ID check stays as it is.

Inside Vezmo, only our compliance team can open your documents, and each time someone does, it is recorded.
