Your business also has to be in a category Shopify Payments supports. Shopify help: Supported countries for Shopify Payments
So a store in the Philippines, Kenya or Vietnam needs another way to take payments, and so does a store whose business category Shopify Payments doesn't accept, wherever it is.
What does Shopify charge when you use another provider?
Every Shopify plan lists a third-party transaction fee. Shopify charges it on orders paid through a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify Payments, on top of what that provider charges you.
| Shopify plan | Price, paid yearly | Price, paid monthly | Third-party fee | On a $100 order |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $29 a month | $39 a month | 2% | $2.00 |
| Grow | $79 a month | $105 a month | 1% | $1.00 |
| Advanced | $299 a month | $399 a month | 0.6% | $0.60 |
| Plus | From $2,300 a month | From $2,300 a month | 0.2% | $0.20 |
- The same fee where Shopify Payments isn't available: Shopify's pricing pages for the Philippines and Vietnam list 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced too. Its help center adds that where Shopify Payments isn't available, the fee is credited back in proportion when you refund an order.
- No fee on manual payments: cash on delivery, money orders and bank transfers carry no third-party fee.
- PayPal: exempt only when Shopify Payments is your primary provider, which isn't possible where Shopify Payments isn't available.
- US stores: if Shopify manages your US sales tax, you can't use a third-party provider until you set your sales tax to self-directed.
How did we choose and rank these options?
Vezmo wrote this list and is one of the options in it. Every fee and rule about another company comes from its own pricing or help page, opened on 6 Nov 2026. We looked at four things for a store that can't use Shopify Payments:
- Can a store in your country use it? We checked Mexico, the Philippines, Kenya and Vietnam.
- Can customers pay by card?
- What a $100 order costs, with the provider's fee and Shopify's fee added together.
- What you pay every month before any order, such as Authorize.net's $25.
Our order: Vezmo first, because it's ours: its invoices and payment links take cards in all four example countries, at $3.08 on a $100 US card, though they sit outside Shopify checkout until its Shopify app arrives. Then PayPal, because it works in all four countries, takes cards and many buyers know it. Then a local provider from Shopify's list, which you check for your own country. Manual payments next: they work everywhere with no Shopify fee, but take no cards. Authorize.net only helps stores in the US and Canada.

In Mexico, Shopify Payments is usually the simpler choice, because Shopify charges no third-party fee on it. In the Philippines, Kenya and Vietnam, compare PayPal and the local providers on Shopify's list, and keep manual payments for customers who prefer to pay by bank transfer or on delivery.
How do Shopify payouts work, and what if Shopify Payments isn't in your country?
With Shopify Payments, Shopify sends your sales to the payout account you set up: a checking or current account that meets its requirements for your country, or a Shopify Balance account. Here is how a payout travels, in Shopify's own example for a store with 3 business days to settle.
- FriSaleYour customer paysCharges captured from Friday to Sunday are grouped and sent together as one payout.
- Wed+3 business daysShopify sends the payoutWeekends and public holidays don't count toward settlement, and payouts aren't processed on them.
- +1–3daysIt shows in your bankShopify says funds might take another 1 to 3 days to appear in your bank account. Into Shopify Balance, a payout can arrive within 1 business day.
| Where the store is | Minimum settlement time | Minimum payout |
|---|---|---|
| Australia | 2 business days | None |
| US, Canada, UK, most of the EU, New Zealand | 3 business days | None in the US, Canada and New Zealand; €1 or £1 in most of Europe |
| Singapore, Hong Kong SAR | 4 business days | 1 SGD; 10 HKD |
| Japan, UAE | 5 business days | 5 JPY; 20 AED |
| Mexico | 7 business days | 10 MXN |
- Schedule: daily, weekly or monthly (Japan: weekly or monthly), and switching costs nothing. Change it under Settings › Payments › Manage › Payouts schedule; pending payouts then wait for the next date on the new schedule. In the US and France, payouts may arrive earlier and more than once a day.
- Slower cases: ACH direct debit payments can take up to 4 business days to settle, and Shopify says the minimum time also depends on your risk level.
- Reserves: Shopify can hold part or all of your transaction funds for a set period, as a fixed amount or a percentage, to cover disputes and refunds.
- Account holds: while Shopify Payments holds your account (for example over missing information or incorrect bank details), you can't receive payouts until the reason is resolved.
Where Shopify Payments isn't available, there are no Shopify payouts. Each way of taking payment pays you on its own terms:
| Option | Where the money goes | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Your Vezmo balance (Shopify app coming soon) | Free to your bank, when you choose; we or our partners may hold a payout while we review an account | |
| PayPal | Your PayPal balance | You withdraw to your bank, with fees set by your PayPal account's country |
| A local provider | Its own account or settlement | On the provider's own payout terms |
| Manual payments | Straight to your bank account, or cash on delivery | You mark the order paid in Shopify |
How do you set up payments without Shopify Payments?
- 1Check Shopify Payments firstIf your country is on the list and your business category is supported, it usually costs the least on Shopify, because it carries no third-party fee.
- 2Pick a card provider for your countryUse Shopify's payment gateways page to see the providers available where your business is, then compare their own price lists and payout terms.
- 3Add it in your Shopify adminShopify's help center says you can activate or change a payment provider from the Payments page of your Shopify admin.
- 4Add PayPal and manual methodsA PayPal button and a bank transfer or cash on delivery option give customers who don't want to enter a card another way to pay.
- 5Count Shopify's fee in your pricesOn Basic, 2% of every order paid through a third-party provider goes to Shopify. On Grow it's 1%: paid yearly, Grow costs $50 a month more than Basic, so it pays for itself from $5,000 a month of such orders.

Questions
Is Shopify Payments available in my country?
As of 6 Nov 2026, Shopify's help center lists 41 countries and regions, including the US, Canada, the UK, most of the EU, Australia, Japan, Singapore, the UAE and Mexico. The Philippines, Kenya and Vietnam aren't on the list. Your business category also has to be one Shopify Payments supports.
Do I pay Shopify's third-party fee if Shopify Payments isn't available where I am?
Yes. Shopify's pricing pages for the Philippines and Vietnam list the same 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. Where Shopify Payments isn't available, Shopify credits the fee back in proportion when you refund an order.
Which payment options have no Shopify fee?
Shopify Payments itself, and manual payments such as cash on delivery, money orders and bank transfers. PayPal is exempt only when Shopify Payments is your primary provider.
